cairo kitchen

As a lover of all things Middle and Near Eastern from the colours, clothes, rugs, architecture and food I was delighted to discover Cairo Kitchen by Suzanne Zeidy.tomatoes

More than just a cookery book it has both  beautiful food and location photographs by award winning photographer Jonathen Gregson.4

In Cairo Kitchen, Suzanne shares recipes inspired by those she grew up with. Her family loved to cook and every Friday her aunt Alba would have the extended family round to eat a huge Egyptian style supper where they would gossip laugh and feast on traditional home-style cooking.

There are traditional recipes such as stuffed vine leaves, beef kofta stew and old age breads. Then there are the modern takes of old recipes. As well as meals  items that you can make to give as gifts are included, such as pickles and preserves and sweets such as Halawa truffles and date and walnut cake.honey
